Studio Policy

Our teachers reserve time in their schedules, plan for each lesson, and invest in every student’s long-term development. To provide regular, high-quality lessons, the following policies must be observed.

Membership Tuition

1. A $99 non-refundable registration fee is due at initial sign-up. Returning members receive 20% off the registration fee. A returning member is a member who has had a gap of one (1) month or more between enrollments.

2. Monthly tuition is based on a 48-week instructional year, not a 52-week year. Our studio calendar runs from August 1 through July 31. Sparks is closed for designated holidays and week-long breaks. Some months include five lessons and shorter months may include three lessons, but most months include four lessons. Tuition is the same each month; we do not charge more in five-lesson months or less in three-lesson months.

   Closed dates for the 2026–2027 school year:

   • Labor Day – September 7, 2026

   • Thanksgiving Break – November 24–28, 2026

   • Winter Break – December 22, 2026 through January 1, 2027

   • Winter Recital – January 23, 2027

   • Memorial Day – May 31, 2027

   • Summer Recital – June 19, 2027

   • Summer Break – July 11 through July 17, 2027

3. Monthly tuition is due on the first day of each month and is billed automatically to the payment method on file (“Auto-pay”).

PAYMENT AUTHORIZATION AND CARD-ON-FILE CONSENT. By enrolling and providing a credit card, debit card, bank account, or other payment method, the member or responsible parent/guardian expressly authorizes Sparks Music School and its third-party payment processor to securely store the payment method and automatically charge it for: (a) recurring monthly tuition; (b) the initial or returning-member registration fee; (c) applicable late fees and returned-payment fees; (d) educational materials, music books, instrument rentals, accessories, additional lessons, exam or recital preparation, and other purchases or services requested or accepted; and (e) any other amount properly due under these Terms and Conditions. This authorization applies throughout the membership, including the entire required 30-day cancellation-notice period and any final tuition or other balance that becomes due during that period.

The signer certifies that they are an authorized user of the payment method provided and agrees to keep valid payment information on file. Failure of an automatic charge, removal or expiration of a payment method, or a request that a particular charge not be processed does not cancel the membership, shorten the required cancellation period, or eliminate the obligation to pay amounts properly due under these Terms and Conditions.

4. A $25 late fee will be charged for any payment not received by the 10th day of the month, including when an automatic payment is declined or cannot be processed.

5. A $25 fee will be charged for each returned check or returned electronic payment.

6. Educational materials, music books, instrument rentals, and other accessories are additional costs.

7. Members may purchase additional exam or recital preparation lessons.

Group Class Cancellation

Sparks Music School reserves the right to cancel group classes with insufficient enrollment. If a class is canceled, students will be notified and given the opportunity to transfer to another class. If a student does not enroll in another class, the student will receive a refund.

Membership Cancellation Policy

1. A 30-day cancellation notice must be submitted through the online cancellation form. Example: A cancellation received on May 16 will be billed for June and will take effect at the end of June. There are no exceptions.

2. A cancellation may be withdrawn at any time before it takes effect; however, the teacher and/or lesson time cannot be guaranteed. A returning-student registration fee will be required to re-enroll after the withdrawal takes effect.

3. Active membership is required to participate in Sparks events, exams, and recitals. All registrations for these activities will be withdrawn when membership cancellation takes effect.

4. All make-up lesson credits on the account expire when the membership ends.

5. Membership is not transferable.

6. Sparks Music School does not provide tuition refunds under any circumstances.

7. Sparks Music School reserves the right to terminate a membership, in which case any unearned tuition will be prorated and refunded.

Attendance

1. Students are expected to arrive punctually for their weekly lessons. Parents and guardians are responsible for getting students to their classroom—not only to the lobby—on time.

2. Students who arrive late cannot be guaranteed their full lesson time.

Missed Lessons

1. No tuition credit or refund will be provided for missed lessons.

2. No make-up lesson, credit, or recorded lesson is provided for a missed group class.

3. A make-up lesson credit will be issued when a private lesson is canceled at least 24 hours in advance online, by email, by text, or by phone.

   • Cancellations made with less than 24 hours’ notice do not qualify for a make-up lesson credit. This includes illness reported on the day of the scheduled lesson.

   • No more than three (3) make-up lesson credits may be pending at one time per membership.

   • A credit may be used to schedule a make-up lesson online or by email with the student’s regular teacher or another available teacher.

   • Make-up lessons cannot be rescheduled.

   • All make-up lesson credits expire when the membership ends.

4. If a student cannot attend a scheduled private lesson, the member may request a personalized recorded lesson to complete at the student’s convenience.

Substitutions

1. Members may request a change of teacher or instrument by notifying the front desk.

2. If a teacher is unable to teach a lesson, Sparks may arrange a substitute teacher.

3. The regular lesson-cancellation policy applies when a substitute teacher is provided. No make-up credit is issued solely because of a last-minute teacher substitution.

4. If a teacher becomes unavailable for ongoing lessons, Sparks will provide a new teacher with a similar teaching style or an opportunity to choose another available teacher.

Inclement Weather

Sparks follows Granbury ISD school closures for inclement weather. Closures will be announced on the Sparks Facebook page and by text. If a private lesson is canceled due to weather, the student will receive a make-up lesson credit. No credits are issued for canceled group classes.

Parent Portal

Adult students and parents have access to the student portal through our website at https://sparksmusicschool.com. Click “Log In.”

First-time login instructions:

1. Enter the email address provided during registration as the username.

2. Click the purple button labeled “Get Log In Link By Email.”

3. Use the link in the email to log in and set a password.

The parent portal may be used to check lesson schedules, cancel lessons, schedule make-up lessons, change payment methods. All communication between students/parents and instructors must be conducted through Sparks Music School and/or the Opus portal.

Students and parents may not contact instructors through personal phone numbers, personal email addresses, or social media accounts. Instructors may send lesson-related messages through Opus; when a message is one-way, students or parents should contact the Sparks front desk by phone, text, or email, and the front desk will relay the message to the instructor. Please contact the front desk for assistance.

Children May Not Be Left Unsupervised

Sparks is not responsible for children before or after lessons. To protect all students, parents or guardians must bring students to their classroom and may not leave students or their siblings unattended at Sparks.

Assumption of Risk and Release

The signer assumes all risk of injury or harm to the child(ren) or adult student(s) associated with participation in musical activities at Sparks Music School and agrees to release, indemnify, defend, and forever discharge Sparks Music School and its officers and staff from liability, claims, demands, damages, costs, and expenses arising from injury sustained during or as a result of participation in Sparks musical activities, to the extent permitted by applicable law.

Photo/Video Release

Unless the member or responsible parent/guardian requests otherwise in writing, Sparks Music School has permission to photograph and record students and to use the photographs or recordings in brochures, websites, posters, advertisements, social media, and other promotional materials created by Sparks. Permission is also granted for Sparks Music School to copyright such photographs and recordings in its name.

Disclaimer

Sparks Music School reserves the right to refuse service to anyone, subject to applicable law.

Acknowledgment and Agreement

By signing below, I confirm that I have read, understand, and agree to these Terms and Conditions, including the Membership Cancellation Policy and the Payment Authorization and Card-on-File Consent. I understand that monthly tuition is a membership obligation rather than payment only for lessons attended, that missed or unused lessons do not eliminate tuition owed, and that my payment method on file may be charged for amounts properly due under these Terms and Conditions, including amounts due during the required 30-day cancellation-notice period.
